I love…

I love friendships that effortlessly pick up where they left off.

I love my worn-in corner of the couch.

I love springtime and the feeling of a fresh start.

I love the thick, dark curl of eyelashes on my little boys.

I love childhood imagination.

I love Van Gogh’s Starry Night and art museums.

I love the ocean and its rhythmic waves.

I love dreaming.

I love high-waisted leggings and fuzzy slippers.

I love a clean house with a scented candle lit on the counter.

I love eating Thai red curry and tofu on Saturday nights.

I love seeing the past align with God’s divine plan.

I love quotes, yet I cannot pick a favorite.

I love working out my feelings through written words.

I love summer and patio seating.

I love dark chocolate, bitter and sweet.

I love cooking, new ingredients, and reading cookbooks for pleasure.

I love being at home.

I love sugar skulls and sharing my birthday with the Day of the Dead.

I love seeing people jump at chances and succeed.

I love taking long walks, to nowhere in particular.

I love the new life that is reflected in a garden.

I love fiery sunrises and new morning mercies.

I love being awake before anyone else in the house and the sacred silence.

I love catching sight of my kids, being content, and playing.

I love music and watching my boys dance, jiggling their hips.

I love friends who live far away, yet only a text away when needed the most.

I love herbal tea that warms me from the inside on the most frigid days of February.

I love cutting open an avocado, and it is perfect.

I love how my husband is an equal partner and helps out with our kids and home.

I love how he supports my hopes, dreams, and goals.

I love the sound of unhindered laughing.

I love a grande Starbucks decaf soy latte.

I love crisp and tightly tucked bedsheets.

I love the excitement of holidays and silly traditions.

I love the unique touch that comes from being a mama.

I love being a boy mom, with the trucks, trains, dirt, and rocks.

I love recognizing the constant provision God has poured over me, again and again.

I love the anticipation of vacation plans and waiting for the mail to arrive.

I love the book 14,000 Things to be Happy About, its good reminders, and my handwritten notes in the margins.

I love that I could keep writing about the things that I love.

I love that.

An exercise that led me to write a lengthy list of things I love, and in the end, I felt as though I could keep going. The perfect reminder of how much I have to be grateful for. What do you love?

Inspired by Alex Dimitrov’s poem, “Love.”
